Ashe blew her bangs out of her face as she examined the beast of a motorcycle that sat before her. It was a 2016 Honda Relinquish, one of the first electrically powered motorcycles to be manufactured. People had complained that an electric vehicle would be somehow inferior to the gasoline-powered ones. Wimpier.
But her beloved bike was as badass as any other, she thought with a note of pride. Of course, so far she'd only had images from the internet to compare it to, but she didn't see how they trumped her Relinquish. With the exception that they tended to be much cleaner.
Well, it wasn't as though she could wash the bike. Water was too precious for superficial things like that. So the layer of grime would have to stay while she kept the more important parts running smoothly.
Ashe sat next to her bike on the garage floor, setting the tool kit to her left. She started tinkering with the machine, and in a few minutes her hands were coated in grease and dirt, with a few streaks of it on her face where she'd brushed her hair out of her eyes. But she had discovered the culprit that was making her gears stick when they shifted, so she considered it a success.
Her bike was one of the few material possessions that she really treasured. Her gun, of course, was important because it kept her alive, and she was grateful to Wally for teaching her how to use it. But really it was just a tool in her mind, like a fork. Her bike was what let them go back and forth from the city: and even more than that, the peace she found in the solitude of the open road was unmatched.
Having sufficiently removed the gunk that was clogging up her bike, Ashe began reassembling it tenderly, making sure that each part was exactly where it was supposed to be. Hadrian had told her that electric engines required more precision than combustion ones--everything had to be placed just so, and she wasn't taking any chances.
