It's 2050, and every day is a struggle to survive. Ten years ago, a virus escaped from a lab in New Jersey. Dubbed the Mange Virus, it rapidly spread west and transformed all those who contracted it into mindless beasts. The government swiftly collapsed, the remnants fleeing to labs in the country in the vain hope of synthesizing a cure. Those lucky few with immunity to the virus clustered together in the suburbs, while cities became dens of Infected. Now, in the area around Chicago, three factions of Immunes are about to clash. Stella's Freedom, a paramilitary organization centered in the city itself, fights to kill as many Infected as possible. The mysterious Sanctum of the Possessor, a strange cult, claims more and more people each day. And a household from the suburbs, called Haven, clings to hope for something thought impossible: Carriers. Able to contain the virus in their body without letting it overtake them, Carriers might be able to provide a cure for the virus. But the question of the cure may not even survive the battles to come...
