All right, since Desecration's Smile has a very structured plot, it's important that we know the order of events to keep from getting confused. To this end, I've created a timeline for the Desecration's Smile universe, which includes information about the events immediately before and during the outbreak. I've put the existing threads in chronological order, with the titles linking to each thread. I tried to estimate where in the year each thread would fall, as well. As usual, if you have any questions/concerns, just send me a PM and we'll work it out.
2039 || A global renaissance is underway. Clean energy has risen to prominence, freeing the world from dependence on fossil fuels. Great advances are being made in robotics and medicine.
February 13th, 2040 || Accidental contamination from an experimental man-made virus creates the first Infected. It escapes its New Jersey lab and wreaks havoc across the countryside. It is killed by military intervention, but not before attacking and wounding several people.
February 15th, 2040 || Those who survived the Infected's attack display flu-like symptoms and increasingly manic behavior. It is determined that they must remain in intensive care until the solution is found.
February 16th, 2040 || Wounded patients transition fully into Infected. The resulting massacre infects many and kills many more.
February 17th-March 3rd, 2040 || Despite the military's best efforts, the Infected tear through county, then state lines. When covered by news media, Infected attacks are presented with only vague details. More explicit are the videos and posts flooding social media. Panic begins to spread.
March 4th, 2040 || The virus quietly mutates to include an airborne strain. Rate of infection skyrockets.
March 5th-October 21st, 2040 || As the government’s chain of command collapses, the virus sweeps across the nation. Contact with other countries is lost; it is unknown how far the Mange has spread. The military snatches up any scientists they can find and retreats into labs and bases in remote, rural areas. The remaining civilians are left on their own to fight over dwindling resources and struggle to stay alive.
2042 || Survivors of the Mange outbreak have solidified into small communities. Immunes have begun to explore and master the skills that exposure to the virus granted them. Infected have formed dens in major cities and are rarely seen in the suburbs where Immunes reside. Care packages from other countries containing goods and supplies are dropped every month within the cities, but Immunes have no contact with the outside world aside from this.
2043 || Stella’s Freedom moves out of Kyle Uther’s apartment and into an abandoned Walgreen’s. They begin to solidify into the organization they are today.
2045 || The Cult of the Possessor moves into the Chicago area, bringing hundreds of initiates and the leader of the cult herself. Their scouts and preachers begin seeking out Immune communities and converting them, though Clementine holds back her full force for a later date.
Mid-February, 2050 || The Chicago Carriers are discovered during a supply run. The contact is fleeting, but it sends waves through the suburban Immunes. Clementine increases the Sanctum’s presence in the city.
