It's 2050, and America has pretty much gone to hell. Ten years ago, a virus was released from a lab in New Jersey, turning everyone who contracted it into raving, mindless beasts. Now, only a fraction of the population survives: Immunes, whose bodies rejected the virus entirely, and Carriers, who internalize the virus without letting it consume them. Infected run rampant in major cities, and for the Immunes and Carriers, every day is a struggle to survive.
But there are those with ulterior motives, even in this broken world. Stella's Freedom, an organization that fights to kill as many Infected as possible, and the mysterious Cult of the Possessor have emerged and will stop at nothing to see their goals realized. How will this affect the Immunes and Carriers who are just trying to get by? For in Desecration's Smile, you're not just fighting for your life... you're fighting for your humanity.
